Google CEO calls internet a Cesspool
On Wednesday, Eric Schmidt (Google’s CEO) called the Internet a “cesspool” in reference to the quality of content and the large amount of false information residing on it.
According to Adage he was speaking to an audience of magazine executives when he made the comment. He went on to say that brands were increasingly important in being able to judge the quality of content the site had to offer. And offered the advice that the best way to increase your rank was to increase your relevance.
I think Mr Schmidt has a point. How often do you visit sites looking for information and find the article you’re reading has been written by some student for $4, and is loaded with keywords and other irrelevant information.
I’ve got a feeling that Google are going to be getting tough with the sites that provide this cheap loaded content, I don’t know how but with the brains they’ve got working in that place I wouldn’t put it past them to come up with something very soon.
The article is well worth reading and can be found on the below link:

Is Google not the company which causes this cesspool by rewarding all these keyword rich websites with good positions?
I would like to write freely about subjects, but what I get to hear from “seo-experts” that I should have 5-8 % keyword density. Obviously this leads to less quality content.
Maybe Mr Schmidt should apologize for causing this cesspool.
Some form of “rating system”(obviously fraud sensitive as well) from readers should be the main point for your position on search engine rankings.
All these “artificially” constructed backlinks are causing low quality of the internet as well if you look at forums like Namepros for example. Do not blame the people who try to get these backlinks, but blame the ones who reward this with higher positions in the search engine ranking.
People post and react in blogs, forums and whatever just to get backlinks and make the cesspool bigger, because of this backlink policy.
