Review of Sitegraduate.com Minisite Service - (DNKitchen Competition prize)

Monday, January 12, 2009
By admin

There are a raft of minisite services out there at present - all fighting for your valuable $$$, but not all of these services are equal. I have recently had two sites built by the team at Sitegraduate.com and I am very impressed with what they have done for me.

The first site was Sixth.com and the second was a prize I won on DNKitchen for the development of EuropeanBeaches.com  Before I continue I’d like to disclose that I am not affiliated with Sitegraduate - the review is what I actually feel about the site and the service.

Well from the off the support and communication was superb. I just provided them with the name and that was it. I explained what I wanted the site to be focused around and gave pretty general instructions and they went off and did it. I was updated throughout the process and towards the end was asked for my analytics code and advertising information.

Good communication is essential for me as it allows me to keep track of where things are (I’ve worked with too many unreliable developers in the past.) – it also frees up my time as I want someone who can run with a project without me breathing down their neck – checking that corners aren’t being cut.

Okay onto the development - I think the designs are superb - there is not a hint or feel of the standard minisite (in my eyes.)  I always worry about logo’s people put together and had a concern before they set to work – but I’m very happy with what they have done. Most minisite services give you pretty much the same old thing – poorly written articles and boring looking sites.  These guys have given me videos, good pictures and most importantly well written articles.

So I am one happy customer. The only downside I can see here is the price, as at $249 they aren’t giving these sites away. At the end of the day you’ll have to decide if you think the sites they put out are worth the money.

Anyway, if you haven’t already seen their work check out what they did for me at: EuropeanBeaches.com and Sixth.com

$249 for ten pages is quite alot. I usually do 35 pages for that much and use the exact same wordpress theme with custom design. But hey, they do a good job I guess.

Not bad, but nothing that can’t be done in an afternoon. $249 is a little expensive, IMO… but it really depends on the name. I was just looking at some mini-sites that I created that had 0 traffic that now have about 10 uniques/day… but still don’t make any $$$. Looks like I’ll have to send them to parking and see how they do. If only Bodis brought back those simple parking templates…

Daniel - can you post some examples of sites you’ve made. 35 pages is quite a lot - is it all unique content?

Great review, I think dead on.

Two things, DNKitchen is now ChefPatrick.

    and

Right now, until the 15th they everyone can get their mini-site for $149 by coming through http://ChefPatrick.com. Not only that but if they buy a mini-site for $149 they will be entered into a raffle to win up to $700 in prizes.
