Trigger Happy Namepros Mods?

Friday, April 15, 2011
By admin

Like so many of you out there I frequent the main domain forums regularly, hmm ok well two! Dnforum and Namepros are by far the best forums out there in terms of knowledge base and most importantly making sales (invariably to other domainers)

I’ve been a member of both for many years, I actually forget exact sign up dates but it has to be 6 yrs at least. Afterall that time I’ve still got 100% trader feedback, 161 positive on dnf and over 180 on namepros.

So whats my problem? Easy, is it just me or is anyone else out there feel a victim to trigger happy mods at Namepros? Forum rules change regularly, members make mistakes, so what happened to "friendly warnings" It’s not like I’m trying to scam anyone, so please mods, wake up and smell the coffee!

I’m fuming currently as I can not believe how content literally EVERY mod on Namepros is to slap 2 point / 4 point infractions at  EVERY opportunity. Sure I realise forums have to be moderated but do you folks have to be so keen to throw penalty points around?

In over 6 yrs all I got infraction wise at Namepros was 2 points which are now expired, in the last month I’ve been thrown 10. Grief at this rate I won’t be able to post!  OK I accept I deserved 2 of them, 2 for thread bumping (I noticed the time stamp at the last second but it was too late as I’d already hit "Post") but yesterdays 4 points for posting auction details of names I am selling for clients on Bido was a BIT MUCH! I posted in the VIP Marketplace section and was slapped with the 4 points mentioned and some blurb about "You can’t post names you don’t own in the marketplace" Fair enough but hell did you really have to throw more points around rather than send a friendly PM letting me know????????????

thanks for reading,

Andy Kelly

Amen to that! namepros mods must be on a bonus per infraction given. Beyond belief!

Nothing would surprise me with that forum.
I left months back never to return. I had the same issue with certain moderators. That and the site failing to load regularly convinced me to move on.
If they don’t get their act together they will be on a par with digitalpoint.

I agree, NP ae quick to throw infractions around yet let people like Jeff ( former partner of RJ) troll around doing what he wants.
I got into .tv and the .tv sub forum used to be great, now after the mods, let idiots troll it the members got fed up and the place is now dead as they have moved to another .tv forum called
It is annoying how they just chuck out warnings to long serving members,NP have lost the plot imo.

Thing is for me, there are so many cool members. It’s a great forum for seasoned pros and for newbies. Even if the amount of “serious” buyers has dwindled of late.

They are evil imo. they don’t agree “human make mistakes”. also hard forum rules. we are in great need of a np clone. i left np months ago. shame on them…

I left over three years ago because of all the bull there.

Also, all the smart domainers left years ago. Now it is the uninformed domainers leading other uninformed or new domainers down the wrong roads with bad advice. is where all the smart nuts are anymore, but you have to get an invite to get in. Why? Because then you’d have another NamePros, and who wants that?

    i totally agree with NPisDead.

Ive been having terrible luck with digital point.

there is so much irrelevant BS on that site it amazes me when I actually reply to a post, answer someones question and STILL get an infraction!

I got 10 in about 2 days on DP. I think all forum mods need to stand up and actually walk around - not just sit in front of computers like hermits

NamePros and DigitalPoint mods are out of control.

RJ is no longer running the day to day there. The forum is completely different. Nowhere near as many people on. There is not a lot of sales unless you want to sell names for $1 to $8

Namepros mods, are an old boys network, on a total power trip, an essential over red bulled revenge of the nerds with a badge to give infraction points… let their be discussion namepro mods!

I am just glad we don’t have to look at that ugly background saying Latona anymore at namepros, man that was ugly

    @ Domain Lords

I have far less problems with DNF than NPROS currently
As a broker we have many of Adam’s names on our books, I’ve found Adam a good guy to deal with / talk to so I can’t agree with your stance on that one but I can sympathise with your views that NPROS management are way out of control.

Not even sure I’ve heard of the Domain Lords all the same. Whats the story?
