Where to Get Cheap But Awesome Logos for Your Domains & Just About Anything Else!

Like most of you guys, time is my most precious commodity and there’s nothing I hate more than spending great amounts of it doing grunt work (checking e-mail addresses, sending mails, listing my site on directories, etc..)

There are companies that can help you outsource these niggling time intensive tasks, but the problem here is that they are normally expensive and you find that quite often your instructions haven’t been followed correctly, by which time it’s too late.

Now I’m sure most of you have heard of Digitalpoint (Forums.digitalpoint.com), but if you haven’t it’s definitely a site you should check out. Especially the Buy, Sell or Trade thread which can be found under the Business section.

Over the past few months I have made some excellent contacts here and have had people undertake hundreds of hours work I haven’t had the time to do.

I also recently had 7 logos designed there, all of which turned out superbly for $25 each. There must have been about 30 entries for each one and some of the designs were incredible.

Now the reason I’m bringing this up is that recently a friend of mine who has nothing to do with online business complained to me that he couldn’t get the logo he needed for his production company. He had been to various UK based design agencies but sadly the work they had presented him with was sub par (and he was paying pretty big bucks.)

So I recommended he advertise what he was after on Digitalpoint with a $70 logo design competition. At first he was sceptical, but thought, “what the hell it’s only $70.” At the end of the competition he had received over forty different designs and a large number of them were of an excellent quality.

There were four he absolutely loved and would have been delighted with had any of the agencies provided just one of them. He eventually chose a winner (which I disagreed with), but it just goes to show how large the amount of talented people there is out there willing to work at a massive discount to the prices here in the UK.

So the point I’m trying to make is if there is a service or product you need created look around the forums, post in the wanted section or run a competition. I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what the results are.

James

If you are buying a logo, digitalpoint is a nice place to go to. If you are designing the logo, it isn’t. I submitted some designs to several threads and the original poster ended up disappearing in each one of them and ultimately didn’t buy any. This actually happens often.

But you’re right, if you are looking for a logo it’s a nice place to try out. Most designers will do multiple revisions for you in a heartbeat. Lots of creative folk there.

On the other hand, stay far away from their domaining forum. Scam risk is too high.

Scott - you’re 100% right on the domain section there. Definately a place to avoid.

Its a great site and I think running a competition is the best way to get your true moneys worth.

Totally agree about companies here in the UK ripping us off!

The BST section on DP is a double edge sword. You have to be careful not to fall for all those “methods” on making money online, at the same time, there are amazing deals from designers and domainers who need to dump their expiring domains.

Just stay cautious when selling domain names with godaddy and paypal.

Buying logos is one of the only reasons I visit DP, I have purchased dozens of them there.
